Super comfy to carry around
One thing that really grabs your attention when you see the latest Swagtron is the ergonomic grip on both sides of the deck. Not only does it add a special touch to the board’s design, but also comes in super handy when you need to carry it around.
Obviously, you will be riding the board most of the time, that’s what you are getting it for, but for those rare occasions when you feel more comfortable carrying it, this is a great feature.
After all, if you have ever owned a skateboard you probably agree with us that tucking it under your arm is no fun at all.
So, if you like to use your eboard around skate parks only or specific places and prefer to carry it the rest of the time, this might be the board for you. The full weight of this product is 10 lbs.
As affordable as it gets
This board by Swagtron is one of the most affordable electric skateboards on the market. You are definitely getting decent quality for the price you are paying.
While it might not be the fastest or the strongest eboard out there, Swagskate Classic NG-1 has surprisingly impressive features for such a low price.
Battery Management System – security at its best
Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 provides extra security and greater energy efficiency with aa multilayered battery protection.
This actually is pretty rare in electric skateboards as it exceeds many battery safety requirements. Swagtron eboard uses a certified 24V LPF battery with a patented Sentry Shield technology. This means extra security for the user, as well as the board.
These are some of the features that Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 users really love. Now, let’s cover all the technical parts of the board to better understand whether or not it fits your needs and preferences.
Basics Specs
This Swagboard model is powered by a wheel hub motor that has a range of 10 miles. The maximum speed of the board is 11 mph on smooth and level surfaces. However, the battery life and speed range differ greatly on rough surfaces, inclines, and heavier loads.
The 24V Ion Lithium battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge. While the re-charge time could be better, the battery quality in the NG-1 is still pretty good.
The design of the board is quite interesting. It’s double nosed and has two built-in cut-out carry handles. The non-slip mat black surface provides a good grip.
The board comes with hard, long-lasting, polyurethane wheels that will guarantee you a silky ride on smooth surfaces. They are likely to wear down quickly on slightly rough surfaces though.
The Deck
Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1’s deck is yet another thing where the manufacturers didn’t hold back on the quality. It is made of solid Canadian maple wood and premium grip tape. The 7 layer wooden deck is more than enough for you to experience a stable and flexible ride.
The deck supports riders up to 176 lbs.
The deck dimensions are 32″ x 9″ x 4.5″, making it one of the biggest eboards on the market right now. However, with the weight limitation, it might not be a smart option for heavier riders.
The Weight
The whole board weighs less than 10 pounds. Yet another detail that makes Swagskate Classic NG-1 very easy to carry around. It is truly impressive that they managed to get the electronics, battery, motor and board hardware not to exceed 10 pounds.
This makes the board great for children as well.
The speed
To put it simply, Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 is not the fastest electric skateboard out there. The maximum speed that you can reach with this model is about 11 mph.
If you are not looking for an extra thrill and want to use the board for regular commutes or cruising around the city, this speed should be more than enough. But, for those of you, who are in for the excitement, you should probably consider other options.
Keep in mind, that the speed range varies greatly from rider to rider.
The low-speed limit is another thing that makes this board a good choice for kids and beginners.
Rechargeable Remote Control
The remote controller is quite sophisticated for a low-price electric skateboard. You can use it to control the speed, braking, and cruising. The handheld remote makes it very easy to change between speeds with a simple slider that allows you to accelerate and decelerate at any time.
You can see your current speed on the LCD display, along with battery life and remote life.
What makes this remote really handy is a wrist strap, especially for those of us who tend to lose every little thing that we lay our hands on.
Yet another great feature of the controller is that you can charge it anywhere through a micro USB port, even on the go.
How does it compare?
Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 vs Blitzart Huracane 38”
This Blitzart board is in the same price range as Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1. It has to be said that while this eboard does have a lot of great features, its design looks pretty basic. As if there was no work put into making it look refined, but hey, maybe that is exactly what they were going for.
The Blitzart Huracane deck is made of 6 layers of maple wood and 2 layers of bamboo, topped with a premium grip tape. This combination allows for a great grip and gives the board some flexibility.
Compared to the Swagboard, this board can handle much more weight (up to 250 lbs). So, one point to Blitzart.
Blitzart board also has a higher speed capacity of 17 mph. This is coming from its powerful 350 W hub motor. However, when it comes to battery and range, the two boards are identical with a 10-mile range on a single charge.
Blitzart Huracane also comes with an ergonomic handheld controller and a wrist band, just like Swagboard.
There are a lot of similarities between Blitzart Huracane and Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1. The decision should purely be based on the range and looks of the board. Read our review
Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 vs Evolve Bamboo GTX Series
Before we get into all the amazing features of this Evolve Bamboo eboard, it is important to understand that it’s in a completely different price range than the Swagtron board. So, don’t be surprised if it bypasses the board we are currently reviewing in a lot of categories.
The important part is whether it’s worth all that extra money.
The Evolve Bamboo board can cover three times the range, 31 miles in a single charge and can reach a maximum speed of 26 mph.
The remote controller with a digital LCD screen gives you access to a whole lot of details including 4-speed settings, battery display, wheels, and gear settings.
So, it’s easy to say that the Evolve Bamboo GTX series electric board outperforms the Swagboard in most of the categories. If you are looking for a truly fast eboard that will help you cover long distances, then it might be worth to pay up; but otherwise, Swagtron Swagskate steals the show when it comes to the price. Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 vs Teamgee H8 31
If you’re looking for a funky looking electric skateboard, you will definitely like the Teamgee H8. The design is what really makes this board stand out. It’s a little more expensive than the Swagtron board, so let’s have a look at some of the key features to see whether it is worth to overpay for the design alone.
The board has a super thin design with a high-performance battery hidden inside the deck. This gives the board a regular longboard look, even though it’s built with 10 ply Canadian maple and 2 ply fiberglass layers.
With Teamgee, you also get an ergonomic wireless remote control with Cruising mode, 3-speed settings (Low: 0-9MPH, Middle: 0-13MPH, High: 0-15MPH), and Battery display.
The Teamgee eboard might be thin, but it is not as light as the Swagtron board. The board is also not as easy to carry around.
To sum up…
The Swagtron Swagskate Classic NG-1 is a high-quality electric skateboard at an affordable, entry-level price.
The board is especially great for those who tend to carry it around all day as it is ultra lightweight and comes with two handles. The remote controller gives you all the control you need over the board. The manufacturers did a great job at designing a deck that is wide and sturdy without compromising comfort.
While the battery life and range of Swagtron might not be impressive, the board is still great for recreational riding and short commutes. If you’re just starting out with an electric skateboard or are looking for one for your kid, Swagtron is definitely a great option.
However, if you are an experienced rider and like to race around every now and then, you might find the board a little limiting.
The bottom line is that Swagtron is worth the money. For such a low spend, you are getting a lot of benefits and high quality.
